Infinity

City Hall Sculpture Garden

Cerritos, California

2014

Description

Infinity is serpentine sculpture consisting of 55 Stainless Steel Rods rotating around itself elevated on a LED lit pedestal within the sculpture garden of Cerritos City Hall. The elliptical concrete pedestal sits at an angle to the surrounding landscape further emphasizing the tilt of the piece. The axis of symmetry of the infinity symbol aligns with the entrance to the sculpture garden inviting visitors deeper inside this public exhibition. Thin Stainless steel rods define the form of the sculpture while maintaining material transparency. The overlapping of segments as one walks around the piece offer visually playful experience of the sculpture garden. The LED lights illuminate the sculpture at night adding another dimension in light and color.
