Description

Black Spiral Dream Plaza features a monumental bronze column titled Black Spiral Dream and companion bronze fountain. The sculptures are connected by an earthwork planted in fescue that marks the entrance to one of the six campus buildings of Moffett Towers Corporate Campus in Sunnyvale, CA. Its improvised forms are in contrast to its almost Palladian relationship to the entry of the office tower. The sculptures improbable geometries sync with the plaza to create an engaging entry from the street as well as the dramatic moment when exiting the building. For this LEED Platinum project, the fountain is a bubbler that uses recycled grey water from the corporate campus and automatically shuts off in high wind conditions. Like an outdoor room, the plaza helps extend the workplace to the outside and encourages users to stay on premise throughout the workday.
