Description

This trilogy of sculptures in the entry plaza to Lake Superior College outlines a material and cultural history of the great port city of Duluth. A viewing platform comprised of a heavy wooden grid and a glacial boulder frames a view of Lake Superior, thus creating a greater sense of place in the plaza through this borrowed landscape. In collaboration with a Duluth boat builder, a sculptural bench was constructed based on the design of the hull of a Mackinaw fishing scallop, commonly used on Lake Superior.
