Green Fossil Fountain Plaza is one of six entry plazas that act as gathering points for social interaction along the main pathway at the 52-acre Moffett Towers Corporate Campus in Sunnyvale, CA. This plaza features two granite fountains connected by an arc of planting. Titled Sporangiophore 1 and Sporangiophore 2 after the resemblance of their shape to a fern’s spore receptacle. For this LEED Platinum project, the fountains are bubblers that use recycled water and automatically shut off in high wind conditions. Like an outdoor room, the plaza helps extend the workplace to the outside and encourages users to stay on premise throughout the workday.
